John Locke's View

John locke would say that the goverment would have to change. That a monarchy could no longer exist. He would see spain as a country that needed reform. The goverment should protect the people, liberty, and property. This didn't happen in Spain. Chruch and state should be separated and the monarchs ruled by divine right which would be the opposite of separation. Spain should be more tolerant. The goverment should work to help the people not the rulers.

John Locke

Impact On The Country

New techniques of navigation improved overseas trade and made merchants more money. The time period changed how people thought and what they believed in. Peasants were not interested in the time period because they still faced the same problems they had earlier. This time period developed the first european navigation manual which allowed ships to find their location. It gave new knowledge to people that was not known before this time period. It didn't give a solution to the economic crissis faced by the country.

Adam Smith's Thoughts on Spain

Spains economy is very weak right now and it could use a revamping. Phillip II spends extravagant amounts of money on his wars and his lavish lifestyle. Spain needs to embrace free trade and become a cepitalistic society. They would prosper more and the people would have more money instead of it all being in the hands of Phillip II. If they were to reform their economic ideals, then the country would prosper a whole lot more.

Sincerely,
Adam Smith

Condorcet's View of Spain

Spain has become such a backwards country recently. Philip has removed them from any sort of political and technoligical advancement by removing Spain from world affairs. I think that it is a shame to have one formerly great country under the control of such a ignorant despot. Spain should step back into world affairs in order to save their people from the shackles of absolute rule. Once they again involve themselves in European affairs, I thoroughly believe that Spain will learn of the various political advances made in Europe. They need to adopt a democratic government and overthrow the evil monarch. Until they do so, they will never be able to compete in European affairs.

Signed,
Condorcet
